Hieu Nguyen is Head of Platform Engineering at Home Credit Vietnam, someone who believes difficult engineering problems are meant to be solved, not avoided. Over 19 years, he has built teams from scratch and taken risks before there was a proven path. He built an AWS-like private cloud from bare metal, using open source to deliver its core capabilities in-house for modern enterprise. At VNG, he built a GPU AI farm and created Vietnam’s first eKYC platform, integrating eKYC into the country’s first bank to adopt it and using using ML to read national ID cards at a time when the technology was still new. What matters most is what his teams achieved together, and turning biggest challenges considered too difficult into capabilities that had not existed in Vietnam before.
